You ever killed a novel?
Ever ripped an embryo
limb from limp limb,
and bit from bit,
and byte from byte?
Separating me from A3
planning sheets that hung above my head;
chapters torn from walls,
characters drowning
in crumpled heaps.
Abort! Abort! Abort
those who would have only lived as fantasy,
and lived a year beyond life support.

The one foot box-file coffins
in a mass grave.
Now all that remains
are the greasy erratic stains
of white tack memories unstuck
and broken, broken, consequential
loss of love.
