His clockwork kisses led again to leaden love
and yet we were not alone. You
were there, demanding me,
commanding my heaving, bosomy lust.
Unwelcome ghost of possibility,
without intention or consent, you
penetrated our love.
Between hot gasps you
came: a word, a name in his ear. Stinging
deceit scratched across his back, I felt him
die inside. If you knew, you
would be sorry
but I will never tell you; never
speak of it, in the hope
that it will be laid to rest. Devil!
I wrote in your book and now
neither of us
can turn the page. I
travel as a ghost to you
