one hour. 2) No more than 20 lines.
The result ? Genius or Not.

30th August 2010

By Mark Brayley | 2010 August 30

I spent the year
relearning old shortcuts.
I used to know this town
like the back of my hands,
at a time when my hands
were only used for signing on
or skinning up.
Paths and alleyways
were thick blue veins.
I was nothing but a tumbling platelet,
rushing and bumping off the walls,
starved of oxygen,
in search of a heart.
With wider horizons,
I now look further than my hands
but my everyday grooves
are forming ruts.
I wring my scouring adult mitts
for want of once again
relearning old shortcuts.

Memory, Change
